This is the Mandelbrot Set.
The Mandelbrot Set is a mathematical pattern discovered by Benoit Mandelbrot. When displayed visually, it creates an image of unimaginable resolution. The pattern is self-similar and recursive in nature as one zooms into it. Geometric figures such as these are called Fractals.
Fractals are intriguing to me because they are a natural pattern of incomprehensible depth and beauty. In a way, this picture is very humbling.
Also, sometimes people see fractals while high on LSD. Just sayin’.
